Step 1: Prepare Your Print-Ready File
Before sending your file, ensure it meets the standard A5 print specifications:
  • Dimensions: The standard A5 size is 148 mm x 210 mm (5.8 x 8.3 inches).
  • Bleed: Add a 3 mm bleed to all edges to prevent white lines from appearing after the flyers are trimmed. This means your file size should be 154 mm x 216 mm. Ensure all background elements extend into this bleed area.
  • Colour Mode: Design your flyer using the CMYK colour model, which is standard for printing, to ensure accurate colour reproduction. RGB is used for digital screens and can cause colour discrepancies.
  • Resolution: Your images and design should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) for crisp, clear results. Avoid low-resolution images from the web.
  • File Format: Save your final design as a high-resolution PDF (specifically “press quality” preset). This format preserves the layout, fonts, and images. Other acceptable formats may include TIFF or EPS, but check with your printer first.
  • Safety Margin: Keep important text and images at least 5 mm inside the trim line (the finished size) to ensure they are not cut off.
  • Embed Fonts: Convert all fonts to outlines or embed them within the PDF to avoid font-related issues.
